Marine biology is a far cry from family medicine, but life experiences can take you in directions never expected: between a college roommate who was determined to be a doctor, time spent at a student-run volunteer ambulance service, and a summer job, I was well on my way to becoming a physician. Getting to know my patients and their families, and helping them with their health issues is what makes the career of medicine worthwhile – and fun! From kids to adults to grandparents, from developmental issues to health maintenance to chronic problems like diabetes, hypertension and elevated cholesterol, my goal is to help patients have a long, healthy and enjoyable life.
